Mr. G.Boopathi, Additional Director Visit.
Year:
The Centre of Excellence for Cut Flowers, Thally, recently welcomed the Additional Director of Horticulture and Plantation Crops for a review visit. The Additional Director inspected various units including polyhouse cultivation, nursery production, and training infrastructure.
During the visit, he appreciated the ongoing efforts and encouraged the team to focus more on practical farmer training, quality planting material production, and low-cost innovations. He stressed the importance of efficient resource utilization and suggested introducing short-term income-generating modules like weekend plant sales, DIY flower kit preparation, and demonstration-based training programs.
To further improve revenue, the Additional Director recommended forming linkages with local markets and florists, promoting direct sales of cut flowers and ornamental plants. He also suggested showcasing the centre’s success stories through social media and awareness campaigns to attract more beneficiaries.
The visit highlighted the department's continued support for strengthening the centre’s role in sustainable floriculture development at the grassroots level.
