Centre of Excellence for Cutflowers
(Indo-Isreal Agriculture Project)

The Centre of Excellence (COE) for Cut Flowers in Thally, Tamil Nadu, is a flagship initiative under the Indo-Israeli Agricultural Project (IIAP), aimed at revolutionizing cut flower production through advanced technology and training. Inaugurated on December 6th, 2017, by Gil Haskel, Head of MASHAV - Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation, along with Consul General Ms. Dana Kursh and MASHAV Head of India Mr. Dan Aluf, the centre is the first Indo-Israeli joint program for cut flowers among 34 active agricultural collaborations in India. Since its establishment in 2013, the COE has been a hub for knowledge-sharing, empowering farmers, extension officials, and students with cutting-edge horticultural techniques.

The COE regularly hosts Israeli experts who conduct seminars and training sessions, equipping local farmers and horticulture enthusiasts with skills in floriculture and modern farming methods. Students from agricultural and horticultural colleges, as well as schools, visit the centre to gain hands-on experience, with many graduates securing roles as garden supervisors and gardeners in private companies across Tamil Nadu and other states. The centre takes pride in fostering a new generation of skilled professionals and supporting farming communities through innovative projects and training programs.

As part of its broader mission, MASHAV has awarded to alumni for projects focused on women empowerment and farmer welfare in India. Ambassador Daniel Carmon highlighted the IIAP as MASHAV's largest project outside Israel, emphasizing its role in strengthening Indo-Israeli relations. The COE in Thally stands as a testament to the success of this collaboration, driving sustainable agricultural growth and inspiring a brighter future for farming communities.
